Laparoscopic Surgery or ‘Keyhole’ Surgery means that surgical procedures are performed via very small abdominal incisions( as compared to conventional surgery with a large abdominal incision ) with special instruments and a camera introduced through the umbilicus (belly button) and the entire procedure is viewed on a video screen. The major advantage of this type of surgery is that the recovery time is shortened considerably with less pain and complications such as wound infections. Not all conditions or patients are suitable for Laparoscopic surgery but Dr Land will discuss this with you at the time of your consultation.
Some conditions which can be treated laparoscopically include
Hysterectomy, Ovarian cysts, Endometriosis, Fibroids, Uterine Cancer, Cervical Cancer, and Lymph node dissections
